Commercial Driver's License (CDL) InstructorThe primary role of Driving Academy's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor is to ensure that our students are given the highest quality education in preparation for their CDL road test. You will be working hands on with students at our training yard to help them perfect their pre-trip/in-cab inspection, parking maneuvers, road driving skills, and operate a vehicle safely in accordance with applicable laws in all outdoor conditions.Instructs students in the skills needed to operate CDL vehicles, such as tractor trailers and busesTeaches students how to park CDL vehicles using a variety of different methods:Teaches students how to conduct pre-trip and in-cab inspections in preparation for CDL testingPrepares materials for trucking simulator program lessons, assignments and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performanceTracks and assigns student time in the vehiclesImplements safety policies and proceduresConducts routine inspections on vehicles including adding/refueling vehiclesMaintains required paperwork for individual student/yard files and other necessary recordsMove vehicles from one location to another in training yardOversees students as they learn to safely and properly operate a vehicle on public roadwaysPerforms other related duties as assignedThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role, but are not necessarily all inclusive.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Extensive knowledge of CDL vehicle operation and vehicle lawsAbility to be patient and remain calm when riding with a student driverKnowledge of CDL vehicle components and their purposesAbility to teach students the principles of operating a vehicleHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredValid Commercial Driver's License and clean driving record requiredClass A License RequiredTwo years of relevant experienceFluency in multiple languages preferred; languages will be specifiedTeaching or law enforcement background desirableAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to climb in and out of trucks and busesProlonged ability to standProlonged periods of riding in a vehiclePhysical ability to operate a vehicleAbility to look beneath trucks and busesAbility to see near and far detailsMust be able to lift at least 25 pounds at a timePerform work with OSHA required PPE; Including COVID19 PPEReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential requirements$23 - $25 per hourMonthly bonus availableHealth Insurance StipendBonus PayPaid HolidaysPaid Vacation DaysPaid Sick Days401(k) with matchingEmployee DiscountProfessional Training & Development OpportunitiesAs an equal opportunity employer committed to meeting the needs of a multigenerational and multicultural workforce, Driving Academy recognizes that a diverse staff, reflective of our community, is an integral and welcome part of a successful and ethical business.
