Product Metallurgist

The Product Metallurgist is responsible for a wide variety of activities and procedures throughout our production process. This position is part of a team tasked with the goal of maximizing safety, quality, and productivity at the Sinton location.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing technical support on product and processes for the operators
• Providing technical support including product and operations information for SDI sales and SDI customers
• Approving orders
• Maintaining order validation and premet review program parameters
• Setting internal/external quality standards
• Making final disposition on nonconforming material
• Reviewing galvanizing claims
• Developing corrective and preventive actions
• Providing continuous product and process improvement
• Coordinating ISO activities
• Assisting with trials and trial tracking
• Validating customer claims and making corrective actions if needed

Qualifications include:

• B.S. degree or equivalent in metallurgy, material science, or a related engineering field
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Travel requirements – some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences, attend meetings at other SDI locations etc
