Senior Software Engineer

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a motivated Senior Software Engineer to support an emerging Cyber Training program for the Department of Defense located in Orlando, Florida (not a remote position). Seeking a motivated software development candidate to lead agile development projects across modern full-stack software applications. The candidate will lead one or more software development projects and provide technical recommendations to Agile scrum teams in the development and integration of advanced software capabilities into fully functional production applications to support cyber training capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Work through agile-based software lifecycle development that includes requirements analysis, design, & implementation. Recommend solutions and corrective actions to technical applications and software issues. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to less-experienced engineering staff. Apply software engineering standards and assist engineering teams in software system or subsystem development and documentation efforts. Understands and adheres to project schedules and stays within technical standards and design principles. Efficiently diagnose and debug front-end and back-end software issues. Clearly and effectively communicate problems and solutions with the team and external stakeholders, both verbally and electronically. Plans, conducts, directs and evaluates software projects across an agile development cycle. Leveraged AI-driven development tools and intelligent automation throughout the software lifecycle, integrating AI capabilities into delivered end products to improve functionality, streamline workflows, and enhance user experience. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Bachelors degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum ten (10) years of software engineering and design experience. Minimum of ten (10) years of applicable, progressively complex, software design engineering experience. Strong object-oriented programming expertise – this position requires active day-to-day software development Experience in Linux shell scripting Experience in cloud-based infrastructures and environments Secure web-based development Agile development process and planning tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) In-depth knowledge Git repositories and DevOps principles Strong technical grasp of database design Experience delivering AI solutions within enterprise applications, including Large Language Model (LLM) integrations, workflow automation, and cloud-based AI services and products.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Strong expertise with JavaScript, Java Spring Boot, React, Angular and other related libraries desired Knowledge in any of the following areas would be considered a plus: Experience within the commercial software development and deployment workforce Experience with containerization of applications Experience in Kubernetes and container orchestration Experience with back-end development, including node.js, web servers (Nginx, Apache, etc.), database servers, etc. Experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) would be considered a plus
