Nature of Work: Transportation Engineer I's in this track will apply structural engineering theories, principles, and standards to a variety of transportation structures. New engineers will be involved with the design of new bridges, bridge deck replacements, bridge rehabilitation and repairs, culverts, retaining walls, and noise abatement walls. They will also be involved with performing hands-on forensic evaluations of structures, preparing inspection reports, and making repair recommendations.MDOT offers a generous and competitive benefits package. Experience: None required.Preferred Qualifications:Successful completion of college-level coursework in structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design.A letter of recommendationNote: Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the state of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
