Pharmacist (Retail/Community Pharmacy)

Job Summary

We are seeking a licensed and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our growing pharmacy team in Warwick, RI. In this role, you will be responsible for dispensing medications, counseling patients, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to promoting positive health outcomes.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• Regular Shift: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
• Evening Shift: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM (1–2 evenings per week as needed)

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately review, prepare, and dispense prescription medications.
• Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with federal and state regulations.
• Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, storage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
• Monitor medication adherence and identify potential overuse or misuse.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.
• Provide health and wellness services such as blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol management, and smoking cessation counseling.
• Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for internal and external use when required.
• Prepare sterile pharmaceutical solutions following established procedures.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications and medical supplies.
• Identify and resolve medication-related issues while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians, pharmacy clerks, interns, and other pharmacy staff.
• Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required.
• Current Pharmacist license in the State of Rhode Island (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Experience in a retail or community pharmacy setting is preferred but not required.
