About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1.5 years preferred, experience with level 1 or 2 preferred, travel experience preferred License: Any active state RN license or compact license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have EPIC experience Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment Must have experience with stable chronic ventilators IV start preferred Description: Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, but they can be up to 1:5-6. For a 48-hour contract, overtime is paid out after 48 hours. Traveler will be first to float at the employer's discretion. Agency will float in and out of specialty clusters. Traveler will be assigned a medically appropriate assignment or will support the nursing care team of the unit floated to. Traveler must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. The employer reserves the right to cancel two shifts due to low census per 13-week contract. The employer reserves the right to cancel the agreement with two weeks' notice without penalty. Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives. Request time off with the initial submittal; no time off will be added after the offer. Approval of time off will be at the discretion of management. Candidates must be comfortable floating to other units based on their skill sets and census. Candidates should be familiar with the following skills: Accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration. Care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, chest tube management. CVA (Cerebrovascular accident), feeding tube care and management, Heparin protocols. High flow nasal cannula management, interpretation of arterial blood gases, isolation precautions. Management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and procedural sedation administration. The facility provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. Daily census is approximately 23 patients. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, AKI, CRF, ARDS, COVID, flu, GI bleed, and falls. Interventions include chest tube management, insulin drips, heparin drips, and nitro drips. Special equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and tube feeds.
