Assistant Controller

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller and CFO in managing the hospital's accounting and financial reporting functions. Primary responsibilities include general accounting, month-end close, fixed assets, budgeting, and supervision of Accounts Payable and Payroll.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

• CPA certification or CPA candidate.
• MEDITECH Expanse experience.
• Supervisory experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and/or Payroll.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Coordinates general ledger accounting and the monthly and annual financial close processes.
• Prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reports.
• Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements, related board reports and analysis of operating expense variances.
• Supervises Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
• Maintains fixed asset and depreciation records, including additions, disposals, and construction-in-progress.
• Assists the Controller and CFO with annual operating and capital budgets.
• Assists with annual financial audits and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Supports effective utilization of General Ledger applications in MEDITECH Expanse.
• Serves as the Controller's primary backup and assumes additional Finance leadership responsibilities as assigned.
