Handle the high duster by brushing in a downward direction into the service cart. Dust and sanitize: Using a germicidal solution, work around the room sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (e.g., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trashcans). Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls; spot clean windows with proper solution. Bathroom Cleaning: Wipe down in the following order using germicidal solution: above and below sink; toilet seat and outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a mop and germicidal solution; check and refill soap and paper dispensers daily. Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside the can, remove the liner, wipe the can, and place a clean liner back inside. Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Use a treated dust mophead starting at the back of the room with an “S” stroke; dust under all furniture and in restrooms, sweeping dust into a dustpan and disposing into the service cart. When vacuuming, start at the back of the room and work toward the door; ensure under chairs and other furniture is cleaned. Outside Areas: Clean and check multiple times during the day. Empty and clean ash urns and trash cans; police sidewalks, flower beds, and curb line for trash and cigarette butts; spot clean spills on the sidewalk; remove gum with a scraper; wipe benches and vending machines; wipe lower window ledges; perform high dusting for dust and cobwebs; clean public area glass as necessary; police the parking lot for trash. Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop the main hallways; ensure glass is cleaned several times during the day; clean planters and remove bird waste; check for cobwebs and perform high dusting of window areas at least two times per week; inspect all corners and edges for dirt and debris. Food Court: Clean and sanitize tables, remove trash, place chairs back under tables, spot clean spills; empty and clean trash cans; remove dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning and return clean trays to the shelf for recycled use; clean outside eating areas. Sanitize floors starting from the back of the room; mop under furniture and behind doors as you back out of the room. Your Inspection: After completing the room, review your cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement; make corrections as needed to prevent problems or complaints. General areas: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily. Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering occupied spaces; be friendly and courteous to customers, answer questions, and refer to supervisors as needed; report anything broken or out of order; work quietly and maintain a neat personal appearance; stay in your assigned work area unless requested otherwise; avoid loud talking or noise; report to your supervisor if work is not completed by the end of a shift.
