Core Responsibilities

Student Supervision: Monitor children during free play, transitions, and group activities to ensure physical safety.

Activity Planning: Organize and facilitate engaging games, crafts, and educational enrichment tasks.

Behavior Management: Enforce program rules, and redirect negative actions.

Logistical Support: Prepare daily snacks, set up or clean up activity spaces, and organize supplies.

Physical Requirements

Stamina for Movement: You must be able to endure long periods of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the shift.

Mobility and Agility: Aides must be physically capable of walking long distances and actively participating in playground, gymnasium, or outdoor activities. You should expect to routinely bend, stretch, squat, and kneel.

Lifting and Furnishing Adjustments: You will need the strength to perform occasional lifting and carrying heavy supplies, and moving classroom furnishings.

Environmental Adaptability: Aides must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, enduring varying weather conditions during recess or outdoor playtime.

Cleaning Duties: You must have the physical capability to perform general housekeeping and cleaning tasks, including wiping down high-touch surfaces, tables, and toys to maintain a sanitary environment.

An after-school student aide should wear smart-casual or neat-casual clothing that balances professional appearance with active movement.
