Details Labor & Delivery unit in a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds Patient ratio of 1:3 Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30) Weekend work required Floating within the hospital is required; no floating to sister hospitals Charting via Epic (preferred but not required) No on-call responsibilities 13-week contract minimum Requirements Active WA RN license or compact license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and IBCLC Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience At least 2 travel assignments beyond initial hospital employment required — first-time travelers are not eligible Proficiency with newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration Proficiency with magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, and heparin infusions Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions 2 professional references required for consideration Additional Information Provides comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including lactation consulting services Local candidates are accepted at the same rates — no radius restriction RTO is limited to a maximum of 1 week for the duration of the contract; RTO cannot be requested during orientation week Prior UW staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler Daily parking is available on-site at cost to the employee American Traveler Job ID #P-706384.
