Senior Full Stack Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Full Stack Software Developer will lead development activities for legacy and modern applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements and operational standards. This role involves designing, coding, testing, and deploying application components, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving modernization efforts within an agile environment. Responsibilities:

• Lead design, coding, documentation, integration, unit testing, and defect resolution for assigned system components.
• Develop user interface web applications to enable staff data correction and create database migration scripts.
• Collaborate with business analysts and QA to ensure application code meets business and system requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Provide recommendations on coding and solution design, including impact analysis and options.
• Document solution design, code, deployment specifications, and other procedures to support operations and maintainability.
• Manage all phases of the systems development lifecycle including analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation.
• Prepare and coordinate code releases and deployments across test, staging, and production environments.
• Conduct code and design reviews and provide accurate estimates for new functionality and enhancements.
• Identify and resolve performance and availability issues in collaboration with technical staff.
• Lead defect resolution cycles and ensure defect-free code drops according to development standards.
• Ensure compliance with Government of Ontario IT Standards (GO ITS 54) and participate actively in project team meetings.
• Lead workshops, demos, and facilitate meetings as required.
• Provide weekly status reports on assigned tasks.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 15+ years overall software development experience with at least 10+ years in relevant technologies.
• Proficiency in Java, J2EE, EJB, STRUTS, Spring Boot, Web Services, XML, Angular, Node.js, and UI development.
• Experience with DevOps tools, Agile, SCRUM, Lean methodologies.
• Strong skills in PL/SQL, database development, shell scripting, Oracle, IBM Websphere.
• Experience in vulnerability assessment and resolution.
• Strong experience interfacing with relational databases using Java.
• Understanding of Oracle Forms/Reports and Oracle Application Suite.
• Proven ability to analyze, design, code, test, debug, and document applications.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to collaborate across IT teams and manage multiple projects with prioritization.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with rapid application development (RAD) and middleware/gateways.
• Knowledge of Information Management principles and policies.
• Experience conducting design walkthroughs and post-implementation support.
• Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Public sector experience and hands-on experience in Agile/DevOps environments.

Special Considerations:

• Must comply with Government of Ontario IT standards and security requirements.
• Knowledge transfer to ministry staff is mandatory throughout the assignment and during project close-out.
• All source code, designs, and documentation must be delivered and approved as per project requirements.

Scheduling:

• Hybrid work arrangement requiring 3 days per week in the office.
• Standard project schedules with participation in regular team meetings and workshops.
