Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse in Madison, WI. This position involves providing specialized, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients in a state-of-the-art pediatric unit. The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive medical and surgical care for children with complex health conditions, including neurological, cardiac, and respiratory disorders.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, starting 11/02/2026 and ending 01/04/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from the nurse's permanent address state, BLS certification through American Heart Association, PALS certification through American Heart Association, at least 2 years of acute care experience in pediatric ICU within the last 3 years, pediatric ICU experience and some cardiovascular ICU or cardiac step-down experience required, Basic Arrhythmia experience, proficiency in telemetry, and a baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma level II or higher, pediatric respiratory management, and extensive pediatric ICU experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required, potentially to NICU and general pediatric units.
Additional Information:
The role involves caring for a diverse pediatric patient population, including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, with an average daily census of 18 patients. The unit provides interdisciplinary support such as respiratory therapy, social services, radiology, and rapid response teams. Candidates will be expected to pass required telemetry tests prior to start. The position is located on a Magnet-designated facility offering specialized pediatric trauma and NICU services, with parking and transportation options available.
