The Lancaster Chamber is seeking a relationship-driven and energetic Business Relations Specialist to help businesses connect, grow and thrive.

 

In this role, you will build meaningful relationships with business leaders throughout Lancaster County, recruit new Chamber members, support member engagement and retention, and serve as a connector between local businesses and the resources, relationships, and opportunities that help them succeed.

Salary: $44,000 base salary plus performance incentives; comprehensive total benefits package, professional development and business networking opportunities.

Job Summary

The Business Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the growth, engagement, and retention of Chamber members. This position focuses on developing relationships with prospective and current members, helping businesses maximize the value of their Chamber membership, and identifying opportunities for deeper engagement through programs, events, sponsorships, and other Chamber initiatives.

 

The Business Relations Specialist works closely with Chamber members and prospects to deliver exceptional service, support business growth, and strengthen the Chamber’s impact throughout the community.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Membership Growth & Business Development

 

• Identify, cultivate, and recruit new Chamber members
• Conduct outreach to prospective members through phone calls, email, networking, referrals, and in-person meetings
• Build and maintain relationships with business leaders throughout Lancaster County
• Conduct membership presentations and meetings with prospective members
• Achieve individual membership growth and business development goals
• Identify opportunities for sponsorships, advertising, Chamber programs, and other member engagement opportunities

 

Member Engagement & Retention

• Build strong relationships with members to support long-term engagement and membership renewal
• Assist with onboarding new members and ensuring a positive first year member experience
• Proactively connect with members to understand their goals and help them maximize Chamber benefits
• Identify members who may need additional support or engagement and collaborate with team members to enhance their experience
• Support membership renewal efforts through ongoing communication and relationship building

Community Engagement

• Represent the Lancaster Chamber at networking events, ribbon cuttings, open houses, and community functions
• Serve as a positive ambassador for the Chamber and its mission
• Develop relationships with Chamber members, community leaders, volunteers, and partner organizations
• Participate in events and activities that support membership recruitment and engagement
• Conduct presentations and speak with business groups, members, and community stakeholders as needed

 

Team Collaboration

 

• Collaborate with Chamber staff to achieve membership, sponsorship, and engagement goals
• Participate in sales, staff, and team meetings
• Work with colleagues to create a seamless experience for members and event attendees
• Support Chamber events and initiatives as needed

• • Establish and cultivate relationships in the business community on behalf of the Lancaster Chamber.
  • Assist in the execution of Ribbon Cuttings, Chamber Open Houses, and other membership engagement activities.
  • Establish relationships with staff members, volunteers and Chamber members for a collaborative referral process.
  • Collaborate with Chamber Team and staff members towards achievement of sponsorship, event and program attendance for Chamber events.
• Manage and coordinate the recruitment and retention efforts of The Chamber Ambassadors.
• Assist in Chamber events and activities that may serve as potential recruitment and/or retention opportunities.
• Serve as a speaker at various community organizations’ events as a representative of The Chamber.
• Attend Chamber events as required.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications 

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

• 1-3 years of experience in sales, customer service, business development, relationship management, non-profit development, membership development, or a related field
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Customer focused mindset with a passion for helping others succeed
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
• Confidence speaking with individuals and groups in professional settings
• Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to contribute to team success

 

EDUCATION

 

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the skills and abilities necessary to succeed in this role.

 

 

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

 

• Ability to quickly learn and utilize membership management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
• Ability to conduct online research and gather information about businesses, organizations, and community stakeholders.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel
• Ability to attend early morning or after normal business hours Chamber events
• Commitment to the Lancaster Chamber’s vision, mission, and members-first approach
• Ability to represent the Lancaster Chamber professionally in all interactions
• Additional duties as assigned.
