Nephrology Physician Assistant - Bronx, NY (#1730) Location: Bronx, NY Employment Type: Full‑time or Part‑time (minimum of 3 days for Part‑time) Salary: $135,000 - $150,000/yr Position Overview We are looking for a Nephrology Physician Assistant to work at a multi‑specialty practice in Bronx, NY, providing specialized care to patients with kidney‑related conditions in a collaborative and supportive outpatient setting. Must have an active New York State license and be board‑certified or board‑eligible. At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant (nephrology experience is a plus but not required). Proficient in patient assessment, diagnostic test interpretation, medication management, and electronic health records; willingness to learn nephrology‑specific procedures and treatments. Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and renal function evaluations. Assist in the diagnosis and management of kidney‑related conditions such as chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, glomerulonephritis, and end‑stage renal disease. Order, interpret, and analyze diagnostic tests including blood work (creatinine, BUN, GFR), urinalysis, and imaging studies. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising nephrologist. Prescribe medications, including antihypertensives, diuretics, and phosphate binders, as appropriate. Educate patients and families on kidney disease management, dietary modifications (fluid, sodium, potassium, phosphorus restrictions), medication adherence, and when to seek emergency care. Coordinate care with dialysis centers, transplant teams, and other specialists within the multi‑specialty practice. Monitor patient progress through regular follow‑up visits and adjust treatment plans as needed. Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
