Digital Marketing Copywriter, Contract

Our writers are part of the creative process from the very beginning, collaborating with creative directors, designers, strategists, and UX professionals to develop ideas, solve challenges, and deliver work that makes an impact.
We're looking for a mid-level creative copywriter who brings curiosity, creativity, and strategic thinking to everything they do. Someone who can turn a brief into a big idea, find the right words to tell a brand's story, and create clear, persuasive messaging across campaigns, websites, and digital experiences.
A significant part of this role will focus on SEO-driven website copy, so we're looking for someone who understands how to balance search performance with engaging, audience-focused storytelling. Just as important is the ability to think conceptually, develop campaign ideas, write memorable headlines, and adapt a brand's voice across different channels and audiences.
This is a contract, hybrid position working with a variety of clients, particularly in higher education, healthcare, and financial services. We're looking for someone who enjoys collaborating, brings fresh thinking to the table, and takes pride in creating work that's both creatively compelling and strategically effective.

Key responsibilities include:

• Creative Concepting: Develop original ideas, campaign concepts, headlines, and messaging that bring brands to life and connect with audiences.
• Brand Storytelling: Translate brand positioning, audience insights, and strategic objectives into distinctive, compelling narratives that resonate across channels.
• Persuasive Copywriting: Craft clear, engaging, and action-oriented copy for websites, digital campaigns, social media, and other marketing touchpoints that drives engagement and measurable results.
• SEO-Driven Content: Develop and optimize website copy using SEO best practices, balancing search visibility, user intent, brand voice, and compelling storytelling.
• Content Strategy: Help shape messaging frameworks, content hierarchies, and editorial approaches that create cohesive brand experiences across digital channels.
• Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with creative directors, designers, UX professionals, and strategists to develop ideas, solve problems, and bring creative concepts to life.
• Client Integration: Work directly with client teams, adapting to their systems, workflows, and brand standards while contributing fresh ideas and strategic thinking.
• New Business Development: This is the fun stuff! We look to you to contribute fresh thinking, big ideas, and creative concepts to new business pitches, helping develop compelling spec work and presentations that differentiate Primacy, strengthen proposals, and contribute to new business wins and revenue growth.
• Client Growth Opportunities: Proactively identify opportunities to expand creative and marketing efforts with existing clients, helping shape ideas and solutions that address their evolving business objectives, improve marketing performance, and contribute to account growth and client retention.
• Industry Expertise: Translate complex topics into clear, approachable, and engaging content, particularly for audiences in higher education, healthcare, and financial services.
• Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings, brainstorming sessions, and creative presentations, confidently sharing ideas, explaining creative decisions, and incorporating feedback.

Qualifications :

1. A strong portfolio demonstrating original concepts, brand storytelling, campaign thinking, and effective digital copy
2. 3+ years of agency or comparable creative experience, with demonstrated conceptual and digital writing capabilities
3. Experience developing content across websites, campaigns, thought leadership, and other digital marketing channels
4. A proven ability to think conceptually and develop ideas that stand out in a crowded market
5. Strong understanding of how copy and design work together to create cohesive, compelling brand experiences
6. Comfort with multi-tasking in a fast-paced agency environment and switching from one project to another at a moment’s notice
7. Ability to work collaboratively among colleagues and the organization
8. “Know how” to apply inspiring and strategic thinking to meet a variety of client needs and expectations across multiple verticals e.g., healthcare, financial services, higher education, and manufacturing
9. Understanding of brand identity and how to ensure all messaging is “on brand”
10. Impeccable eye for detail and strong editing/proofing skills
11. Proven experience writing SEO-informed digital content that balances search performance, user intent, and brand voice
12. Ability to balance in person and remote environments
