Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact in a school community near El Cajon and the Del Mar/San Diego area by supporting a bright and eager 1st-grade student as a 1:1 Intervener for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract position offers the unique opportunity to provide vital educational access and daily communication for a student who is deafblind, ensuring they receive the guidance and support they need to thrive.

Key Qualifications:

• Fluency in American Sign Language
• Intervener Certificate from an accredited university (required)
• Experience supporting pediatric or elementary-aged students in a school environment, especially as a Paraprofessional or Sign Language Interpreter
• Compassionate, patient, and creative in facilitating student independence and engagement
• Collaborative attitude and ability to partner with teachers, specialists, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Offer consistent, specialized one-on-one support for a 1st-grade student who is deafblind throughout each school day
• Utilize sign language to interpret lessons, instructions, and conversations, adapting material to individual learning needs
• Serve as a bridge for communication between the student, their peers, and school staff
• Implement and reinforce instructional and behavioral strategies established by the educational team
• Track progress and contribute insights for ongoing IEP meetings and student planning
