Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for a Dedicated RN in an Intermediate Care Unit!

Job Description:


- Shift Type: 12 Hour Day/Night Rotate
- 48 hours guaranteed

- Unit Details:
- Intermediate Care Unit
- 30 beds (14 Private & 16 Semi-private)

- Key Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS

- Patient Ratios:
- Goal ratio is 1:4
- Typically 1:5, occasionally up to 1:6

- Charge Nurse Responsibilities:
- Takes a full patient assignment on both day & night shifts
- Has a Clinical Assistant for support

- Nurse Aide Support:
- 2-3 CNA's per shift; ratios 1:10-12

- Weekend Expectations:
- Must work 4 weekend shifts (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) every 4 weeks
- Night staff works four weekend night shifts, day staff works four weekend day shifts
- Minimum of 3 night shifts for anyone on straight days

- Holidays:
- Flexibility required; typically covered by permanent staff.

- Scrub Color:
- Navy blue top & bottom, navy scrub jackets (no hoodies)

- Technology & Equipment:
- Telemetry monitoring with Nihon Kohden
- RN's must read and interpret their own strips
- Drip titration required for medications such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, etc.

- Support Teams:
- Hospitalist in-house 24/7
- IV Team & Pharmacy in-house 24/7
- Respiratory Therapy also available 24/7

- Self-Scheduling:
- Allowed as long as unit needs are met
- Up to 4 requested days off per month

- Floating Requirements:
- Must float into Tele or MedSurg as needed; ratios up to 1:6

- Orientation Process:
- First day with HR for 4 hours, 8 hours on unit with a preceptor; second day also with a preceptor

- Common Diagnoses:
- Chest pain, CHF, Arrhythmias, post-pacer, and pre/post catheterization management

- Cancellation Policy:
- 0 tolerance for attendance issues; 2 occurrences lead to termination
