Program Assistant - Libertas Center for Human Rights Location: Elmhurst Hospital, 79-01 Broadway, Annex G, 5th Floor, Queens, NY 11373 The Libertas Center for Human Rights at Elmhurst Hospital seeks a Program Assistant to support culturally sensitive, trauma-informed services for survivors of torture and human rights violations. The role reports to the Operations Director and works closely with Data & Program Coordinator, Executive Director, and Clinical Director. Responsibilities Assist the Libertas team in ensuring that the medical, mental health, social and legal needs of survivors are met. Provide administrative support to program and clinical staff: prepare check requests, purchase orders, travel requests, and reimbursements; assist with tracking and maintaining program budgets. Create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment for clients. Coordinate new and ongoing IRB studies, ensuring timely renewal submissions; participate in collaborative research and data projects. Enter, clean, and manage data; develop and maintain program database; prepare internal data reports and reports for funding agencies. Enhance organizational fundraising and communications strategies; cultivate new funding opportunities; plan and execute annual reports and fundraising events; assist with narrative reports to funding agencies and partner relationship management. Perform other special projects or duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor of Arts or Science. Experience with data management and analysis; proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas). Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite. Knowledge and experience with website, communications, and design platforms such as Mailchimp, Squarespace, Canva, and WordPress. Familiarity with REDCap preferred. Skills Highly detail-oriented, organized, able to conduct tasks independently. Strong problem‑solving skills with creativity and initiative. Ability to navigate challenging situations calmly and respectfully. Team player, responsive to guidance and feedback, maintaining a positive work environment. Excellent time management and effective communication in a fast‑paced, collaborative team. Demonstrated cultural humility and responsiveness with immigrant and vulnerable populations; willingness to examine power and structural oppression. Interest in strengths‑based case management and trauma‑informed health care. Familiarity with human rights and/or global health fields. Schedule Full-time; in-person with the option of one remote day per week (subject to change). Compensation $28.64 - $36.92 per hour, hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other compensation.
