Clinical Manager
The Clinical Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a specific nursing unit in a particular shift. They manage human resources cost-effectively at the unit level. The Clinical Manager promptly and thoroughly investigates and resolves complaints of patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, advising management/administration appropriately. The Clinical Manager demonstrates an ability to respond and provide direction in changing workloads during crises and emergencies. The Clinical Manager accepts responsibility for helping employees understand difficult administrative decisions. Supervises functions and activities within the Department in coordination with the Department Director. The Clinical Manager interprets and implements policies, procedures, standards and regulations for personnel, patients.
- One year of charge nurse experience within a specialty field or equivalent training or years of experience.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- A BSN or bachelor's degree is preferred. BSN, MSN, or a degree in a relevant field preferred
- Previous Management Experience Preferred.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to present self positively and professionally.
- Familiarity with the basic nursing performance standards outlined in the California Nurse Practice Act.
- Knowledge of hospital and nursing policy and the interdepartmental functions of the facility's other patient care service areas.
- Current licensure to practice Registered Nursing in California is required.
- Current AHA BLS required upon hire. ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification as required by the Department. These certifications must be completed before the 90-day provisional period. They must always be completed before being assigned to entire patient (level 3 care- see cross-training policy) care in that area.
