Adjunct Instructor of Urban Planning The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy is seeking a working professional with expertise in urban planning, public policy, public administration, urban policy, urban design, architecture, real estate or a related field. The successful candidate should possess a master’s degree or doctorate in urban planning or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations. Course The instructor will teach PPD624 Local Economic Development: Theory and Finance , a graduate‑level course that introduces students to the tools and programs available to economic development practitioners addressing capital needs for businesses and development projects. The course covers socioeconomic change, economic development theory, assessment techniques, and economic indicators within the context of planning and development policies. Students examine how firms and development projects are financed, including the interpretation and analysis of business financial statements to assess capital needs and evaluate financing capacity. Capital market imperfections, financing gaps, and policy and institutional models designed to address these gaps and stimulate private investment in local economic development are also explored. The concepts, theories, and methods will be presented, interrogated, and discussed in class in a seminar format, with in‑class activities and assignments focusing on analyzing specific places and toolkits. Responsibilities Deliver course content and facilitate seminar‑style discussions. Schedule office hours and be accessible to students as appropriate. Grading and assessment of student work. Prepare a syllabus outlining course goals, schedule, and requirements under the direction of the Department Chair.
