Griffin Contracting, Inc. is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Underground Utilities Pipe Crew. This position is responsible for the installation of underground water, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer systems for commercial and civil construction projects. Team members work under the direction of the Superintendent and Foreman to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

Responsibilities

• Install water, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer pipe systems.
• Assist with trench preparation, pipe bedding, alignment, and installation.
• Backfill and compact trenches to meet project specifications.
• Rig, set, and install precast structures, manholes, catch basins, and related utility components.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, vibratory compactors, pumps, laser levels, and other construction equipment as needed.
• Assist with dewatering operations to maintain safe and dry excavation areas.
• Read and follow grade stakes, plans, and directions from supervisors.
• Load, unload, and handle materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Follow all Griffin Contracting safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in underground utility construction or pipe laying preferred.
• Experience installing water, storm, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in trenches and excavations.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
