Tele or Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department

This position is focused on providing quality patient care in the Emergency Department. The role requires performing assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with team members and other departments to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver direct patient care for all age groups.
• Monitor and coordinate patient care activities effectively.
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by the nursing team.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information.
• Adhere to established guidelines of nursing practice consistent with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

• Required Licensure: Current RN License eligible for licensure in Missouri.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS from AHA; TNCC and NIHSS preferred prior to start.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Telemetry, Stepdown, or Emergency Department (Level 3, Level 4, or critical access).

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 68
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1; subject to change based on circumstances.
• Patient Types: Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and burn patients.

Work Environment

The role requires the ability to work in a busy urban trauma center with high patient volume and acuity. Flexibility and strong communication skills are essential.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with trauma and pediatrics.
• High acuity experience within a high-volume environment.

• Scrub Color: Black
• Unacceptable Attire: Jeans and unprofessional clothing.

Additional Information

This position requires standing and walking most of the time. The nurse will also need to be able to lift and push patients using stretchers and wheelchairs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
