Driver

Driver Position

The primary function of the Driver is to drive to and from job sites off-loading and on-loading HSD Products. Duties will vary depending on the type of job you deliver and pick up from.

Requirements

Education: Preferred: High School graduate or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Experience:

• One year prior work experience as a Driver for a construction company preferred.
• Must have experience driving in rain, ice, and fog conditions.

License/Certification:

• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Clean driving record and no DUI convictions.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand and take direction.
• Ability to accurately receive and/or deliver products to and from home sites.
• Knowledgeable in D.O.T regulations.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires standing for an extended length of time.
• Must have excellent eye sight and depth perception.
• Must be in sound physical condition and able to perform a physically demanding job.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds without assistance.
• The physical condition for this position is rough and sometimes vigorous; this will require off-loading materials to the appropriate work area.

Mental Requirements:

• Basic math skills including understanding how to calculate lengths of materials.
• Ability to communicate in English with employees, management, and customers.
• Must be able to follow maps and written instructions to locate customers' or job site locations.

Work Environment:

• Warehouse and home site construction environment.
• Long and irregular hours. This may include some weekends and overtime.
• Exposure to extreme heat & cold weather conditions, dust, dirt, fumes, and loud noises.
• Road and driving hazards that comes with driving a commercial truck.

Responsibilities and Duties

Inspect the load before leaving the shop. Spot check for quantities, and proper unit markings.

Make sure that trailers are loaded with the correct materials, is properly loaded, and separated so the loads can be allowed for quickest unloading.

Make deliveries to multiple home sites and down-stack all materials off the trailer neatly and organized by lot per HSD Standards.

To make an accurate shortage list of all missing or damaged materials.

Pick up any materials that was previously sent by mistake or returns.

To communicate with the Dispatcher on any changes or issues with the Trucks or the Delivery Routing List.

To attend Weekly Driver's Safety meetings.

To attend every scheduled shift. Tardiness and Absenteeism is vital to this role. You must be here or have informed the Dispatcher of your absence or tardy before the end of working hours the day prior.

Ensures that Truck and cab is cleaned daily.

Obeys all traffic rules, company safety rules and regulations.

Informs the Dispatcher immediately of any traffic fines or citations.

Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Dispatcher.
