Your future role Take on a new challenge and apply your Environmental, Health, and Safety expertise in a cutting‑edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates in ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence of the LAX Automated People Mover (APM) system. Key responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee CPUC Public Transit Agency Safety Plan (P‑TASP) requirements for LAX APM operations. Develop and enforce the Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) program, including procedures, training, compliance monitoring, and field audits. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with regulatory, contractual, and operational safety requirements. Provide field safety oversight of operations, maintenance, and contractor activities. Lead incident, accident, and near‑miss investigations; ensure corrective actions are implemented. Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety analyses to proactively mitigate risks. Monitor compliance with CPUC, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, including CPUC, supporting audits, inspections, and reporting requirements. Analyze safety performance data, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Provide safety training, coaching, and awareness programs to employees and contractors. While experience is not mandatory, the following qualifications strengthen your application: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience or understanding of rail transit, APM systems, or similar regulated environments. Familiarity with developing and implementing RWP programs. Knowledge of CPUC regulations, OSHA standards, and Safety Management Systems (SMS). Ability to develop and enforce SOPs in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or strong communication and leadership skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for risk assessments and safety analyses. Experience with incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions. Proficiency in coordinating with regulatory agencies and supporting audits or inspections.
