Job Title: Culinary Intern Department: Culinary Location: The Lake House on Canandaigua Internship Duration: Summer 2026 Position Summary: The Culinary Intern will gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic kitchen environment, working alongside professional chefs across various restaurant outlets and banquet operations. This position provides a unique opportunity to develop technical skills, kitchen efficiency, and an understanding of both daily restaurant service and large‑scale event execution. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and execution of menus across multiple kitchen outlets, including banquets, restaurants, and special events. Support chefs in maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency. Learn and apply proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures in compliance with health and safety regulations. Work in various kitchen stations, including hot and cold prep, garde manger, and line cooking. Assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and proper storage of ingredients. Gain experience in knife skills, sauce preparation, butchery, and station organization. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for menu development and process improvements. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with kitchen sanitation protocols. Work collaboratively with front‑of‑house teams to ensure seamless dining and event execution. Qualifications & Requirements: Currently enrolled in a Culinary Arts program Passion for culinary arts, with a strong desire to learn and grow in a professional kitchen. Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, cooking techniques, and food safety standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take direction. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
