Job Type: Full-time

Available shifts-

2:00 PM to 10:00 Monday through Friday

Overnight 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Wednesday to Sunday

Weekend Block 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, one overnight 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM Monday or Tuesday

Residential Advisors (Direct Care Support Professional (DSP) are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self-help skills among individuals. Staffs primary role is to provide the appropriate and effective behavioral supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual. The Residential Advisors play a critical role in the overall success of our Residential Services and are looked at as natural role models.

Workday with the Participant:

• Community Integration: Providing transportation in the community, jobs, fun social activities, doctors appointment.
• Personal Care: Depending on the participants needs, you may have to assist with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. Making sure the participant maintains good healthy hygiene.
• Building Skills and a positive relationship with the participant: Helping and teaching daily life skills according to their goals to support independence
• Medication Administration: Manage and administer medications.
• Household Support: Perform light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, dishes), meal preparation, and grocery shopping, making sure walkways are cleared/snow/leaves.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Navigating through Challenges:

• Participants Behavior: Non-Verbal, Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) Impulsive, Impulse Disorder, Autistic, NeuroDiversion. It requires a person to have patience during unpredictable moments and resilience to handle situations with love, kind and compassionate attitude. Following safety protocols and the agencys policy and making sure the participant is healthy and safe.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Responsible for administering and documenting medication according to the regulations.
• Responsible for reporting incidents or neglect to the supervisor.
• Responsible for following the participants individual service plan (ISP). Tracking and documenting the participants progress.
• Responsible for making you attend mandatory training and site team meetings.

Qualifications:

1. The minimum professional qualifications for Residential Advisors are a High School Diploma and one year of Human Service work experience. At least 2-3 working with autism and intellectual disability, and mental health.
2. Medication administration certification.
3. Must be 21 years old or older.
4. Autonomy ability to work without immediate supervision.
5. Interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness of others, tactful interaction, ease in establishing limits).
6. Reliability and flexibility.
7. Insight and the ability to articulate it.
8. Valid drivers license and the ability to drive a van. (Employees Only)
9. Crisis intervention training (i.e., nonviolent crisis intervention, positive approach, etc.)
10. CPR, First Aid and AED.
11. Must clear ACT 33, 34 and 73 (criminal clearance).
