Principal Technical Program Manager, Cyber Defense

Salary: $168,750 - 281,250 per year Requirements:

• We require 10+ years of experience in technical program management, security operations, or engineering program management, with the ability to operate strategically and tactically in complex cross-functional environments.
• We need experience working in or alongside Detection & Response, SOC, or Reliability/SRE teams, with enough technical depth to engage credibly with detection engineers, incident responders, and threat intelligence analysts.
• We look for a proven record of building operating systems, including cadences, metrics frameworks, feedback loops, and governance structures that drive measurable organizational improvement.
• We need demonstrated experience owning and running post-incident or post-mortem review programs focused on systemic learning, action tracking, and lasting improvement.
• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• We need familiarity with Cyber Defense, SOC, Detection Engineering, SIRT, and Threat Intelligence operating concepts.
• We require knowledge of incident response and post-incident review frameworks, including blameless review practices, systemic learning, remediation tracking, and action closure management.
• We expect experience with operational metrics design and governance, including detection effectiveness, coverage, response quality, response speed, and learning throughput.
• We need cross-functional program management skills, including milestone planning, dependency management, risk escalation, stakeholder alignment, and executive decision support.
• We require understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and detection operations concepts sufficient to partner effectively with technical security teams.
• Preferred experience includes Cyber Defense, SOC, or Detection Engineering program management.
• Prior Chief of Staff or leadership-adjacent experience in a technical organization is a plus.
• Experience building knowledge management or organizational learning systems is preferred.
• Financial services, fintech, or similarly regulated enterprise experience is desirable.
• PMP, CISSP, or equivalent program/security management credentials are preferred.

• We will serve as a key leader and strategic partner to the Head of Cyber Defense, strengthening operational rigor, learning velocity, and executive effectiveness.
• We will build and own our Cyber Defense closed-loop learning system, connecting incidents, near-misses, detections, and exercises into a continuous improvement engine.
• We will own the post-incident review framework and cadence, ensuring blameless, high-quality reviews and tracking remediation actions through closure.
• We will define, implement, and evolve Cyber Defense operational metrics so they inform leadership decisions, not just reporting.
• We will run the Detection Council as a structured decision-making forum, managing agendas, materials, follow-through, gap prioritization, and cross-team alignment.
• We will lead critical cross-functional Cyber Defense initiatives end to end, managing milestones, risks, dependencies, blockers, and escalations.
• We will deliver clear executive communications on Cyber Defense health, translating posture, incident trends, program progress, and decision points into concise narratives.
• We will build and maintain the Cyber Defense wins and maturity story by capturing improvements driven by learning and tracking progress over time.
• We will improve leadership operating rhythm and meeting discipline by driving clear agendas, documented decisions, and accountable follow-ups across leadership forums.
