Surgical Clinical Assistant (CMA, EMT or AT)

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a full‑time Surgical Clinical Assistant to support a Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon at our Limerick, PA office. The position requires periodic travel to our King of Prussia and West Chester offices. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM. Job Summary The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) assists the Physician and Physician’s Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties, including post‑op suture removal, wound care, pre‑admissions testing orders, patient calls and messages, and additional responsibilities as needed. Key Accountabilities Increase patient satisfaction, ensure compliance with schedule preparation and voicemail procedures, adhere to policies and procedures, and reduce wait times. Responsibilities May Include (but are not limited to) Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patients to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares the exam room for patient arrival. Cleans and autoclaves instruments. Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician review. Records vitals as requested by the Physician. Prepares injections for the Physician. Pulls up x‑rays, MRI’s, CT’s, and other studies related to the patient’s exam. Assists patients with clothing when necessary. Disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulations, and replaces sharps containers as needed. Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for the Physician. Requests reports for various facilities on behalf of the Physician. Empties and restocks laundry. Scans appointment tracking to determine when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs the Physician in patient appointment order. Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present. Completes pre‑certifications for MRI’s and other Physician orders as necessary. Sends Visco Injection authorization requests to supplement pre‑certification representatives. Scans information into the patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service). Covers other areas of the office when not assigned to a Physician. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC with active, valid license or certification. Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology. Computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite. Experience with EMR systems preferred.
