The primary responsibility of this position is professional floor care; however, the Floor Technician is also expected to support the Housekeeping Department as needed with general housekeeping, trash, recycling, and other assigned duties. Primary Floor Care Responsibilities Strip, wax, seal, and refinish hard-surface floors. Buff and burnish floors using commercial floor equipment. Scrub and maintain tile and other hard flooring. Perform carpet extraction and deep carpet cleaning. Spot-clean carpets and remove stains as needed. Operate commercial floor scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, and related equipment. Complete scheduled floor-care projects throughout Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living, and common areas. Perform deep cleaning of resident apartments and common areas as assigned. Move furniture safely when necessary to complete floor-care projects. Maintain floor-care machines, tools, and equipment in clean and safe working condition. Properly use and store cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and SDS requirements. Use wet-floor signs and follow all required safety procedures. Report damaged flooring, equipment problems, maintenance concerns, and safety hazards to the supervisor. Maintain an organized inventory of floor-care supplies and notify management when additional products or equipment are needed. Housekeeping Support Responsibilities The Floor Technician is part of the overall Housekeeping/Environmental Services team and will be expected to assist the department as operational needs require. Duties may include: Collecting and disposing of trash throughout the community. Collecting and properly disposing of recyclable materials. Transporting trash and recycling to designated disposal areas. Assisting with cleaning common areas, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and other community spaces. Assisting with resident apartment cleaning or deep cleaning when additional support is needed. Helping Housekeeping with room turnovers and move-in/move-out cleaning. Responding to spills and other cleaning needs throughout the community. Assisting with special cleaning projects. Supporting Housekeeping staff during call-outs, high-volume periods, or special events. Performing other housekeeping and Environmental Services duties as assigned by the supervisor or management. Qualifications Previous professional floor-care experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should have experience with several of the following: Floor stripping and waxing Buffing and burnishing Floor scrubbing Carpet extraction/shampooing Carpet stain removal Commercial floor-care equipment Commercial cleaning chemicals Deep cleaning and floor restoration Physical Requirements This is a physically active position that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. The employee must be comfortable operating commercial floor-care equipment and performing cleaning duties throughout the community. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that Floor Technician is their primary role but that teamwork is essential. The successful candidate must be willing to assist the Housekeeping Department wherever needed to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents.
