This position assists management in the supervision and operation of the department, as it relates to scheduling. The lead scheduler is responsible for ensuring the effective workflow of the assigned area and prioritizing job duties. He/she performs all tasks in an efficient, accurate, and hospitable manner to ensure that patient, physician, and organizational needs are met. Works closely with management to troubleshoot and resolve issues. The Lead schedules, trains, and monitors staff performance. Engages in performance improvement activities as needed and serves as a communication facilitator for area of responsibility. Required Skills Knowledge and ability to perform tasks with Microsoft Office Software. Talking or hearing essential to communicate with patients and staff. Good communication skills; read, speaks, and writes English fluently. Knowledge of insurance and authorization process, HMO procedures and medical terminology. Ability to maintain composure and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Required Experience 2 years scheduling experience in a hospital or medical office setting. Telephone experience with excellent phone etiquette.
