Job Description
Job Description: Respiratory Therapist Overview: A Respiratory Therapist (RT) is a healthcare professional trained in diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with respiratory issues. Respiratory Therapists are skilled in using equipment like ventilators, oxygen therapy, and other devices to assist patients with breathing difficulties. Common Duties and Responsibilities: Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients with breathing difficulties or cardiopulmonary issues by reviewing their medical history, conducting physical exams, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood gases, chest X-rays, and pulmonary function tests. Respiratory Care: Administer treatments to improve breathing, such as oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, chest physiotherapy, and inhalation therapy (e.g., nebulizer treatments). Equipment Management: Set up and monitor equipment like ventilators, oxygen tanks, CPAP machines, and other respiratory devices. Ensure proper function and maintenance of equipment. Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations like respiratory failure, asthma attacks, or trauma, providing immediate life-saving interventions.
