Registered Respiratory Therapist

General Information

The registered respiratory therapist plays a critical role in patient care within a respiratory unit, ensuring the best outcomes for individuals requiring respiratory support.

Unit Specifics

Number of Beds: 266
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements: Minimum of three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends
Floating Policy: Rotation through all inpatient units
Patient Experience Requirements: Utilize AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)

Skills Required

Critical Care and Emergency Care experience
Experience in ICU and ER settings
Ability to manage critical adult care
Required weekend rotations

Advanced Skills Needed

Proficiency in aerosol treatments and Bipap management
Ventilator management expertise

Required Certifications

ACLS
BLS
PALS
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Dress Code

Scrubs are the required uniform.

Additional Information

Join a team of 30 experienced respiratory therapists who rotate through various inpatient units, including two 10-bed ICUs. As part of an interdisciplinary team, respiratory therapists participate in daily nursing department rounds, collaborating with multiple disciplines to optimize patient care. The department utilizes advanced equipment, including Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators, Vapotherm, Phillips V60+, and Siemens EPOC bedside ABG analyzers, to deliver high-quality respiratory care.

Experience Needed

A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant setting is required.
