Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news. KHOU-TV in Houston,TX is looking for a dynamic and engaging Meteorologist/MSJ to join our passionate team. This position is for someone who wants to cover news and weather. The Meteorologist/MSJ is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. We are looking for a team player who can help with every aspect of meteorology, from forecasting, to preparing graphics, to reporting in the field. You will be an integral part of severe weather coverage, and reaching our consumers not only on TV, but online and on social media. We are also interested in finding a multi-skilled journalist who is proactive, creative, and engaging. From writing, to shooting, to editing, this meteorologist/MSJ wants to produce informative and memorable news and weather content on all platforms. Required: Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations Responsibilities: Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment. Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming, as necessary. Produce clean, creative, and informative graphics to tell the weather story. Fill in on other shifts when necessary. Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom for weather and news. Update website and interact with viewers on social media platforms daily. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Make public appearances. Requirements: 2-5 years on‑air weather experience including reporting preferred. Be proficient at posting content to various websites and social media; computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems. Must possess solid news‑judgment, display effective communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision‑making skills.
