Counter Sales Associate
Homans Associates (HA) is a subsidiary of the largest independent HVAC/R distribution company in the world, Watsco, Inc. We proudly distribute the Mitsubishi and Bryant brands of HVAC equipment, as well as a full line of HVAC residential and commercial parts, supplies, and accessories. We're seeking a dynamic Counter Sales Associate with HVAC knowledge and a go-getter attitude to join our team. You'll be the bridge between customers and solutions—identifying needs, recommending products, and closing sales with confidence. If you're adaptable, self-sufficient, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want you on our team.
Responsibilities of a Counter Sales Associate:
- Customer Engagement & Sales - Greet customers and answer calls; identify needs and recommend HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies that best fit their requirements
- Product Knowledge & Promotion Awareness - Discuss features and benefits of merchandise; stay current on promotions and deals to maximize sales opportunities
- Order Processing & Problem-Solving - Research inventory availability using computer databases, prepare sales/quote orders, process payments, and handle substitutions when needed
- Showroom & Inventory Management - Maintain organized displays, assist warehouse staff, and coordinate transfers, open orders, and warranty authorizations
- Multi-Tasking & Flexibility - Balance counter sales with clerical support, telephone outreach, and warehouse assistance—wearing multiple hats to keep operations running smoothly
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of a Counter Sales Associate:
- Prior HVAC experience with basic technical knowledge
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong math skills for transactions, calculations, and quotes
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (assistance available for 50–75 pounds)
- Professional and adaptable mindset
- Forklift certified preferred
