Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Details

• Position Type: Local per diem physician coverage

• Shift: 8-hour daytime shifts, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; weekday and weekend call coverage

• Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. followed by night call; 24-hour call coverage Saturday and Sunday
• Patient Care Focus: Inpatient oncology rounding and hematology/oncology consultations
• Procedures: None required

Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board certification in Hematology and Oncology required
• At least 1 year of experience in hematology/oncology practice
• Ability to provide inpatient rounding and respond to hematology/oncology consultations
• Ability to participate in weekday, nighttime, and weekend call coverage
• Active, unrestricted medical license and required credentials to practice in Maryland

Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Physician Responsibilities

• Round on hospitalized oncology patients during scheduled weekday hours
• Evaluate and manage inpatient hematology/oncology conditions
• Respond to inpatient consultations and provide timely clinical recommendations
• Provide night, weekend, and 24-hour call coverage according to the posted schedule
• Coordinate care with hospital-based clinicians and other members of the patient care team
• Document assessments, treatment plans, consultations, and follow-up recommendations accurately
