About the Role We are seeking an investment team member to play a key role in sourcing, diligencing, and supporting portfolio companies while engaging with our broader investor and conservation networks. This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven firm investing at the frontier of nature and technology, in a role designed to grow with successive funds. We welcome applicants bringing a range of experience, and will adjust title accordingly. More experienced candidates should bring an investment track record, deeper expertise in a relevant field (such as biotechnology, agriculture, or AI), and a history of fundraising and portfolio management. Key Responsibilities Sourcing and Investment Diligence (60%) Identify, research, and source early-stage startups aligned with Superorganism’s investment thesis. Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and technical diligence. Write investment memos and make investment decisions. Monitor emerging technologies, scientific advancements, and policy developments. Portfolio and Founder Support (30%) Work closely with portfolio companies to support reaching product-market fit, finding customers, fundraising, and biodiversity-specific tasks. Assist Head of Platform in developing and managing key resources for portfolio support. Facilitate introductions between startups, investors, researchers, and conservation stakeholders. External Engagement and Community Participation (10%) Represent Superorganism at industry conferences and events. Build and maintain relationships with founders, scientists, investors, funders, and conservation leaders. Contribute to select community initiatives or content efforts (optional but a plus). Who You Are Experienced in venture capital investing or a VC-equivalent role (2-4+ years preferred) with a track record of running diligence processes, sourcing and winning unique deals, and working with founders through multiple rounds. Possess deeper expertise in one or more biodiversity-relevant sectors (biotech, AI, nature-based solutions, materials, agriculture, etc.). Independent thinker with strong analytical abilities. Effective communicator with experience engaging founders, LPs, and/or conservation stakeholders. Comfortable in ambiguity and able to take initiative. Mission-driven with a personal, professional, or academic connection to biodiversity or environmental tech. Willing to travel for key industry events, diligence, and portfolio activities. Networked with VC, founder, or other relevant communities. Compensation and Location Location: Remote, hybrid, or in-person (US time zones). Preference for SF or other major hubs. Travel: Some required for key events, diligence, or portfolio activities. Compensation: Salary starting from $100k with potential adjustments based on experience and role. Start date: Q3.
