Summary This vacancy is for a GS-2102-7, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics in Elizabeth, North Carolina. Responsibilities You will serve as a Motor Fleet Manager (MFM) in the Comptroller & Base Operations Department and will be responsible for the motor vehicle program. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serving as local Coast Guard representative and technical specialist, liaison with GSA regional officers, and general management of Coast Guard and GSA Fleet Lease vehicles. Gathering utilization statistics from GSA Drive Thru and vehicle telematics devices.. Implementing improvements as directed by DOL, Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center (SILC), HQ, or Base Comptroller. Staying current with publications, directives and instructions pertaining to vehicle management. Coordinating the creation of motorpools for multiple field units. Performing audits and inventorying of maintenance program and policies. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Coordinating and administering fleet management operations, including the oversight, distribution, and allocation of leased or owned vehicles across multiple units. Serving as a primary liaison or technical specialist to collaborate with external agencies, regional partners, or vendors to resolve fleet-related operational issues and ensure compliance. Analyzing fleet metrics by extracting, interpreting, and compiling vehicle utilization and tracking data to identify trends and recommend efficiency improvements. Conducting audits and inventories of vehicle maintenance programs, ensuring operations align with established transportation policies and directives.
