1st Assistant Golf Professional

As an integral member of the Golf Management Team, the 1st Assistant Golf Professional supports the Director of Golf in overseeing all aspects of the daily golf operation. This includes supervising the golf department staff, leading the tournament program, and ensuring top-tier service standards across the golf experience. The 1st Assistant is expected to act as a professional representative of the facility and provide leadership to golf operations staff while maintaining a service-focused, team-oriented work environment. Key Responsibilities may include: Assist with the oversight of the tee time reservation system, including monitoring pace of play, starter coordination, and daily tee sheet review. Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to assess cleanliness, readiness of equipment, inventory of operational supplies, and communicate findings to management. Support the tracking and verification of players, green fees, guest charges, cart fees, club storage, locker rental, and other service fees — ensuring proper documentation and POS system accuracy. Help oversee the caddie program, including scheduling, communication, and training assistance. Manage the golf car fleet, including cleanliness, usage logs, battery/maintenance schedules, and reporting mechanical issues. Assist with organizing and executing an engaging tournament and outing calendar, including format creation, pairings, scoring, signage, and post-event wrap-up. Provide hands‑on support to maintain a well‑run practice facility, ensuring cleanliness, proper signage, and well-stocked range areas. Assist in the administration of the USGA GHIN handicap system, ensuring member compliance and timely posting. Attend and participate in golf committee and department head meetings as directed by Director of Golf Assist in ensuring all club policies, standards, and values are upheld by the golf staff. Support the Director of Golf in achieving financial performance goals. Job Requirements: PGA of America Class A Member in good standing is required. Strong knowledge of golf operations, customer service, and tournament planning; committed to ongoing development and teaching best practices. Working knowledge of the Rules of Golf, and ability to educate and support staff and members. Strong organizational, leadership, time management, and multitasking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet, POS systems, and Golf Genius tournament software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Customer‑first mentality with a positive, enthusiastic, and approachable personality. Willingness to attend industry conferences, PGA meetings, and trade shows to stay current on trends and best practices. Working Conditions may include: Work hours include days and evenings on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Ability to sit, stand, or drive for extended periods during your shift.
