ALVEY TECHNICIAN – 3RD SHIFT

General Description

The Alvey Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of Alvey conveyor systems and plant‑wide electronic equipment . This role supports production by ensuring automation equipment runs reliably, safely, and efficiently. The technician must be a motivated self‑starter capable of learning quickly, especially regarding state and federal scale codes , and applying creative engineering solutions that improve production and reduce cost.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Alvey conveyor and automation systems , including sensors, controls, and communication devices.
• Diagnose and repair printers and labelers (direct and thermal transfer).
• Diagnose and repair industrial scales in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Install and troubleshoot metal detection systems .
• Program and maintain HMI software (Wonderware, RSView).
• Install and diagnose variable‑frequency drives (VFDs) and servo drives .
• Work with AC and DC electrical systems for equipment repair and installation.
• Perform component‑level electronics troubleshooting (preferred).
• Support barcode printing and scanning systems.
• Complete assigned projects and respond to production support needs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Solid mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• College or technical training preferred.
