If you would like to “Drive Customer Service” with MVD, find out more at Job Overview: The Commercial Technician is an essential team member in the Records and Driver Control Services Bureau (RDC). The successful candidate will be tasked with learning business standards and procedures to support daily operations giving the business the ability to reallocated resources in support of specific project needs. Project needs include receiving, recording, and routing incoming mail, assisting the public and imaging/indexing all documents processed by the bureau. Key duties include processing and routing CDL-related documentation, imaging and indexing all CDL and driver control records, and assisting the public with inquiries involving CDL status, medical certification, disqualifications, and record corrections. The position also supports federally mandated reporting and record integrity through the following: Researching, managing and maintain SPEX Pointers and PDPS Pointers for CDL and non-CDL records. Working with other jurisdictions to correct pointers and driver history Ensuring Montana’s submissions meet national standards for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. Addressing incoming PDPS pointer messages State Pointer Exchange Services (SPEX) and taking appropriate action on CDL-related withdrawals, reinstatements, and corrections. Coordinating follow-up steps such as status updates, record corrections, or notifications to licensing authorities when required. Maintaining strict data integrity to ensure Montana driver records accurately reflect out-of-state convictions, withdrawals, or licensing actions. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) One-year customer service experience One-year computer and software systems experience including a variety of word processing, database, and other business software applications and reviewing, verifying, and processing documents Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis Special Instructions: The selection procedures to be used in evaluating the applicant's qualification may include, but are not limited to an evaluation of the résumé and cover letter, a structured interview, performance test, academic transcripts, reference/background checks and fingerprint checks.
