Key Responsibilities

Inbound Operations

• Supervise the day-to-day inbound process, including receiving, unloading, inspection, documentation, and put-away activities.
• Ensure inbound freight is received accurately and processed in a timely manner.
• Verify shipment documentation, bills of lading, packing lists, manifests, and receiving logs for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate dock schedules and receiving priorities to avoid delays, congestion, and service failures.
• Monitor inbound flow to ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and safety standards.
• Work closely with warehouse personnel to resolve shortages, damages, overages, and other receiving discrepancies.

Outbound Operations

• Supervise outbound shipping activities, including order staging, loading, dispatch coordination, and shipment documentation.
• Ensure customer orders and outbound loads are prepared accurately and shipped on time.
• Coordinate with operations teams to prioritize shipments based on deadlines, service commitments, and operational constraints.
• Verify that all shipping documentation is complete, accurate, and properly communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage load readiness, dock utilization, and departure timing to maintain service performance.

Carrier / Broker / Partner Coordination

• Serve as a point of contact for third-party carriers, freight brokers, and external warehouse partners .
• Coordinate appointments, shipment handoffs, delivery expectations, and issue resolution with outside logistics providers.
• Build and maintain productive working relationships with transportation providers and third-party service partners.
• Address carrier delays, missed appointments, service failures, and communication breakdowns with professionalism and urgency.
• Escalate transportation and service issues promptly to leadership, customers, or affected stakeholders as needed.
• Monitor service performance of third-party partners and communicate concerns or trends to management.

Communication & Customer Support

• Communicate effectively with warehouse teams, drivers, brokers, customers, and cross-functional partners.
• Provide timely and professional updates regarding shipment status, delays, exceptions, and operational challenges.
• Handle escalations with urgency, clarity, and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Support customer-facing communication when issues arise, ensuring accurate and professional responses.
• Maintain strong working relationships across operations, transportation, customer service, and leadership teams.
• Ensure all communication — verbal, written, digital, and handwritten — is clear, accurate, and professional.

Reporting / Excel / Administrative Responsibilities

• Use Microsoft Excel extensively to track freight activity, scheduling, shipment status, inventory movement, operational metrics, and exception reporting.
• Prepare and maintain reports, logs, spreadsheets, and performance trackers for inbound and outbound operations.
• Analyze data to identify trends, backlogs, delays, and process issues.
• Maintain accurate records of receiving, shipping, carrier activity, service failures, and operational follow-up items.
• Complete required documentation neatly and accurately, including situations where handwritten notes, logs, or forms are required.

Scheduling / Operational Flexibility

• Respond effectively to last-minute scheduling changes , operational disruptions, urgent requests, or customer-driven adjustments.
• Be flexible to support site changes , temporary reassignments, or shifting operational needs as business demands require.
• Help adjust labor, dock priorities, and workflow based on volume fluctuations and service requirements.
• Maintain a high level of responsiveness in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Team Leadership / Collaboration

• Support daily workflow execution and help drive accountability, teamwork, and operational discipline.
• Work collaboratively with fellow supervisors, leads, warehouse employees, and office staff to achieve performance goals.
• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on safety, service, and execution.
• Lead by example with professionalism, reliability, urgency, and a willingness to support the team wherever needed.
• Assist with training and coaching team members on standard processes, documentation, communication expectations, and operational priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse inbound and outbound operations , including receiving, shipping, dock coordination, and freight movement.
• Working knowledge of the basic functions of warehouse inbound and outbound processes .
• Experience dealing with third-party carriers, freight brokers, and third-party warehouse partners .
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills; must be comfortable working in spreadsheets, tracking operational data, and maintaining reporting tools.
• Excellent communication skills , both verbal and written, with the ability to manage escalations and interact professionally with customers and external partners.
• Strong handwriting and written documentation skills for clear and accurate completion of logs, notes, forms, and operational records.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to last-minute schedule changes and changing work site assignments .
• Must be a team player with a collaborative, reliable, and solution-focused attitude.
• Comfortable working in both an outdoor environment and warehouse setting , including exposure to heat, sun, wind, dust, dirt, and other variable conditions .

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior supervisory or lead experience in a warehouse, distribution, transportation, or logistics environment.
• Experience coordinating dock operations, load scheduling, and freight appointments.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), or shipment tracking tools.
• Experience supporting customer-facing logistics operations with a high level of service.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment

• This role operates in a combination of warehouse, dock, yard, and outdoor environments .
• Regular exposure to changing weather and environmental conditions, including heat, sun, wind, dust, and dirt .
• May require walking the warehouse floor, dock areas, and loading/unloading zones throughout the shift.
• Must be comfortable working in a physically active logistics environment with frequent movement between office and operations areas.
• Warehouses are located in Compton, CA and Rancho Dominguez, CA
• Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday / 7am to 5pm / Occasional Weekends and Overtime required!

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor conditions for extended periods.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to work around warehouse equipment, trailers, freight, and dock operations safely.
• Must be able to perform the essential duties of the role in a fast-paced operational environment.
