Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. Ensure patient safety, coordinate with surgical teams, and deliver high-quality clinical support throughout operative interventions.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients pre-operatively to determine their medical history and readiness for surgery.
• Prepare the operating room by ensuring all sterile equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff to facilitate smooth procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any intraoperative changes or emergencies.
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols during procedures.
• Document all nursing activities, patient responses, and surgical details accurately in medical records.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid WV or Compact nursing license; no temporary or pending licenses accepted.
• Possess BLS certification.
• Have previous operating room or perioperative nursing experience.
• Demonstrate the ability to circulate and scrub in surgical settings.
• Be comfortable functioning in various surgical specialties including trauma, CVT, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, and cataracts.
• Exhibit strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
