Job Title Assistant Estimator Job Summary The Assistant Estimator supports the estimating team by performing quantity takeoffs, data entry, documentation, and vendor outreach under supervision. This role focuses on learning estimating systems, construction fundamentals, and accuracy standards. The Assistant Estimator contributes to bid preparation while developing the skills required for independent estimating work. Key Responsibilities Perform quantity takeoffs Assist with subcontractor outreach Prepare scope sheets and organize bid documents Competencies Estimate Accuracy & Completeness — Completes assigned quantities and data accurately under supervision Scope, Takeoff & Assumption Control — Follows takeoff and documentation standards Bid-Day Execution & Compliance — Supports bid-day tasks as assigned Trade & Vendor Coordination — Assists with vendor outreach and data collection Risk Awareness & Strategic Judgment — Learns to recognize risks and assumptions Preconstruction-to-Operations — Maintains organized files and turnover materials Budget Discipline & Resource Planning — Uses time and tools responsibly while learning the role Skills Basic quantity takeoffs CostOS data entry Blueprint reading Bid document organization Vendor contact tracking Bluebeam measurement tools Attention to detail Organization Reliability Communication Willingness to learn Time management Software CostOS Bluebeam BuildingConnected Microsoft Excel (Advanced) Procore SharePoint Estimating cost database platforms Responsibilities Perform quantity takeoffs under supervision Maintain estimate databases, vendor/supplier contacts, and bid tracking logs Assist with subcontractor outreach and bid leveling Prepare scope sheets and organize bid documents Support in pre-bid meetings and site visits Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member, with or without reasonable accommodations, to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
