Occupational Therapist - Outpatient Rehab - South Hill, VA - PRN

Responsibilities Conduct occupational therapy evaluations on referred patients. Plan and implement a comprehensive treatment program, including discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow‑up or continued care. Document results of evaluations and services in accordance with hospital and department guidelines. Participate as a member of a self‑directed departmental team and an interdisciplinary patient care team. Provide clinical instruction to occupational therapy (OT) and occupational therapy assistant (OTA) students, and offer training and education to department and hospital staff. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire Licensed (or license‑eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within one year of graduation. Maintenance of licensure once granted. Current CPR certification, if required by clinic or practice area. Experience Required: New graduate to up to two years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist. Preferred: Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility. Education/Training Required: Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy. Preferred: Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy. Independent Actions Required Evaluate and treat patients with routine diagnoses. Set schedule and manage time. Report during interdisciplinary rounds. Set goals for routine diagnoses. Complete routine documentation. Interact with the interdisciplinary team and self‑directed work team. Customer interaction. Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable) Supervise rehabilitation technicians, COTA staff, volunteers, and students doing clinical rotations. Additional Position Requirements Schedules and work hours to be established with the specific manager. Schedules, including weekends and holidays, may be required based on unit organizational and staffing needs. Physical Requirements Lift 50–100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speaking, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking.
