Clinical Coordinator - Charge Registered Nurse - Dialysis

$23 - $76 per hour

Purpose and Scope Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and FMS policy requirements. Ensures quality patient care while maintaining cost‑effective clinical operations in accordance with all legal, compliance and regulatory requirements and programs. As the Charge Nurse, manages daily decisions to ensure continuity of care, maintaining patient and staff safety, and oversees the delivery of safe, effective quality outcomes. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provide day‑to‑day guidance, support and direction to direct patient care staff, including informal feedback and formal input for annual performance evaluations. Participate in department staffing, hiring, firing and disciplinary actions; recommend disciplinary action to the Facility Administrator. Approve or disapprove time or personnel schedule changes in the absence of the Facility Administrator, ensuring compliance with regulations and proper documentation of work hours. Participate in patient care plan meetings and maintain knowledge of current dialysis practices by attending scheduled in‑services. Train and orient staff as needed and routinely observe and guide direct patient care staff for adherence to facility policies and procedures. Promote and assist with compliance to OSHA programs to maintain a safe and clean working environment. Maintain overall shift operation in a safe, efficient and effective manner; conduct staff meetings monthly or as needed to discuss changes in patient care or operations. Meet with the Facility Administrator to discuss personnel and patient care status, issues and information. Supervise documentation of patient information and coordinate Charge Nurse duties with staff RNs in relief charge capacity. Assess daily patient care needs, develop and distribute patient care assignments, and assume primary responsibility in an emergency situation. Implement changes in patient care/treatment as directed and monitor all patient care activity during dialysis, assisting as necessary. Collaborate with the direct patient care team to make decisions that benefit patient care. Continuously monitor patient condition for problems and potential complications associated with dialysis. Administer medications per physician orders and act as a subject‑matter expert and resource for staff. Supervise short and long‑term care plan completion, admit new patients per facility procedure, and educate patients and families about End‑Stage Renal Disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medication. Supervise careful use of all equipment involved in direct patient care and operate dialysis‑related and emergency equipment safely and efficiently. Perform required testing and verification, and initial the checklist for start‑up and shut‑down procedures as outlined in the Technical Services Manual. Complete the Nurse's Technical Training Program / Water Quality Facility. Assist with special projects, interview potential direct patient care staff, promote efficient use of medical supplies and attend monthly Quality Assurance meetings. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Day‑to‑day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff and physicians. Requires travel between assigned facilities and various community locations, and occasional travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings. Work environment is a health care facility with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases or materials. Supervision Direct Patient Care Staff, Ward Clerk as assigned. Education Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (R.N.); must be registered and licensed to practice in the applicable State. Experience and Required Skills Minimum 12 months nursing experience, including 6 months specialized clinical nursing care to dialysis patients (either chronic or acute). Medical/surgical nursing preferred. Supervisory or management experience preferred. Certified in CPR or completion of CPR course. Good verbal and written communication skills. Pay and Benefits Hourly Rate: $23.00 – $76.00. This rate varies with work location and candidate qualifications, including education, experience, skills and competencies.
