Child Nutrition Manager Alma School District, Alma Middle School – Alma, Arkansas Open in Google Maps Job Details Job ID: 5816534 Application Deadline: Jul 20, 2026 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) Posted: Jul 06, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description Position Title: Child Nutrition Manager Department: Alma Middle School Reports To: Principal School Year: 2026-27 Contract: 185 Days Closing: Until filled Salaries: Under State-Required Info Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Director, the general duties and responsibilities of the Child Nutrition Manager include supervising child nutrition workers in the daily routine, performing manual tasks in the preparation and serving of food, and cleaning and maintaining food service areas. Manager duties also include maintaining and organizing daily reports to meet federal and state requirements. Managers are expected to resolve most problems that arise in the operation of a school kitchen/cafeteria. Duties included, but not limited to: Cooperate with the Child Nutrition Director to provide a positive and inviting experience for students, parents, and faculty. Maintain and organize daily reports, including but not limited to production records and meal counts. Ensure a safe environment for food production, maintaining time and temperature guidelines. Delegate tasks and job duties to kitchen staff, including but not limited to: Be responsible for assuring the food preparation of washing, chopping, cutting, assembling, sorting, and mixing food is maintained according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures. Be responsible for leading the staff to serve food during the serving period in accordance with the mandated state and federal regulations. Be responsible for maintaining clean equipment, storage, and work areas during the total work day, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash by staff. Be responsible for the proper storage of food before, during, and after serving time. Be responsible for the overall cleaning of the dishes and utensils. Operate mechanical equipment properly and safely. Practice acceptable health and work habits as outlined in the district Food Safety Plan. Attend and participate in all in-service training as required. Demonstrate the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. Communicate and report needed supplies and equipment malfunctions to the kitchen manager for the purpose of maintaining inventory and submitting work orders for repairs in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Nutrition Director. Ability to: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff. Reinforce a positive work environment and lead by example. Follow written and oral instruction; participate in the preparation of large quantities of food; safely and effectively operate food preparation equipment and appliances; make arithmetical calculations; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to handle cooking tools and operate kitchen appliances; and ability to push carry and lift large and heavy (up to 40#) boxes, sacks of food, pots, and pans. All positions within the kitchen are required to participate in daily clean up to include, but not limited to; sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and disposing of daily trash bags.
