Senior Services Clerk

The Senior Services Clerk for the South Holland and Riverdale locations supports the Township of Thornton's Senior Services Department under the direct supervision of the Director of Senior Services. The Clerk assists with administrative support, event coordination, meal program operations, and serves as a first point of contact for senior participants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide front desk support including answering phones and greeting visitors.
• Assist with scheduling programs, maintaining attendance records, and supporting staff during events.
• Help coordinate meal service (dine-in and carryout), including setup, distribution, and cleanup.
• Maintain daily sign-in sheets and update bulletin boards and calendars.
• Assist with senior communications including flyers, announcements, and program reminders.
• Provide support during township-wide events, including prep, setup, and onsite logistics.
• Report supply or facility needs to the Director.
• Offer friendly and respectful support to all seniors attending programs.

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working in a senior center, human services, or clerical setting preferred.
• Reliable, organized, and capable of multitasking in a busy environment.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, email, or attendance tracking systems).
• Positive interpersonal skills and patience when working with older adults.
• Ability to lift/move light supplies and assist during events or meals.
