Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a high-acuity, short-term acute care hospital, requiring an active MN RN license and prior ICU or ED experience.

Details

• Work in the PACU unit of a short-term acute care hospital
• Care for high-acuity PACU patients recovering from ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology surgeries
• Patient ratios are 1:2 for both days and nights
• Day shift schedule consists of 3x12 hour shifts (9:00-21:30 or 11:00-23:30)
• Weekend shifts required as needed per department needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float within scope to Pre-op, PACU, Phase II, and Helping Hands roles within the hospital as needed
• Uses Epic/Excellian charting system

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience or 3 years ED experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CAPA, CCRN, CPAN
• Experience with high-acuity PACU patients, including ortho, spine, neuro, general, and oncology post-op care
• Experience with ventilators and post-op recovery required
• Ability to care for hemodynamically unstable patients in Phase I recovery
• Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, PCA pump management, and pre/post-op patient care
• Experience with various anesthesia types and post-epidural management preferred
• 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct post-anesthesia recovery care for surgical patients across multiple specialties
• Navy blue scrub color required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no exception for this unit
• Previous employment with this health system requires a minimum 3-month break since last perm shift worked
• RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the contract
• Pre-start modules are required and must be completed prior to starting the assignment
