Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2 years License: Compact license required Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: - Epic experience required - Previous charge experience Description: Locals are accepted at the same rate. 13 or 26-week contracts are available. Candidates must have been separated from any other system facility for at least 3 months to be eligible for a travel contract. All staff must honor active compact licenses. Requests for up to 2 major holidays off can be made. This unit only requires travelers to work 1 of 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Eve, or New Years/Eve. The campus is beautiful and offers great camaraderie with staff book clubs and group dinners. Patient diagnoses include labor and preterm labor. There are 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Duties include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrubbing, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk labor and delivery. Special procedures involve blood and blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vacs, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. Nurses attend all deliveries and high-risk deliveries. GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery responsibilities are included. The staffing ratio is 1:1-3. Floating to postpartum and possibly other departments may be required, based on skill set. Qualifications: Administration of blood and blood products. Anticoagulation therapy and antihypertensives. Assisting with high-risk delivery and circulation for C-sections. Facility births average 200-300 per month. Knowledge of high-risk antepartum and management of insulin drips. Isolation precautions and PPE experience. Experience in labor and delivery, magnesium sulfate therapy, and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC). Pain assessment and management. Recovery of C-sections. Performing sterile vaginal exams. Triage of obstetric patients. Proficient in the use of IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration. Use of PCA (IV) and wound assessment/care. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may result in contract termination or forfeiture of guaranteed hours. If required for the assignment, providers will receive necessary communication devices at no cost. If not provided, reimbursement for work-related cell phone use will be covered up to a specified amount. All interested candidates must be prepared to provide references covering 1 year of experience.
