Trading Desk Accountant

Job Title: Trading Desk Accountant Contract Type: Full time Location: Houston, Texas Experienced accountant to perform trading desk accounting processes, monthly close, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills, and proven accounting ability. The role reports directly to the Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred. Strong working knowledge of financial accounting. Understanding of commodity trading business. Self‑motivated, results oriented, and strong problem‑solving skills. Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel. Ability to independently research and analyze; discuss conclusions with senior management. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Team oriented with willingness to train colleagues. Responsibilities Perform monthly economic to accounting Profit & Loss statement reconciliations. Account for commodity trading transactions (purchases, sales, costs). Validate AR/AP balances for assigned trade desks/commodities. Ensure accuracy and consistency with trading system data. Collaborate with Front/Middle Office and Operations to ensure accuracy, and consistency of reported figures. Review balance sheet, cash movements, and working capital for assigned desks. Quarterly / Year‑end: Participate in Quarter End reporting activities. Compile pertinent data for management reporting and financial statements. Participate in Year End audit and financial statement preparation, as needed.
